Hawaii

My Kipahulu Hawaii paradise is my beautiful 'Heaven on Earth'....While Disneyland might be the "Happiest Place on Earth" for most, this is my idea of ultimate bliss. The aviator, Charles Lindberg spent his last years in Kipahulu, and is buried at the churchyard at  Palapala Ho'omau, a sweet small 'Zen' Protestant church from the early 1800's that he had restored along with his best friend, Samuel Pryor, a former Executive Vice-President of Pan-Am Airlines, head of the DEA, and was  personal friends with every President of the United States from Hoover to Reagan. Charles Lindberg's granddaughter, Erin Lindberg remains a sweet "Kipahuligan friend" and neighbor. It was either Lindberg or Pryor who once said about Kipahulu, 'If there is a heaven on earth, then surely this must be it..." I totally concurr!

I'm located here on the Island of Maui--the most gloriously gorgeous spot on the planet, situated on the rugged, richly jungled, mystical, isolated coast of the tropical East side... It's incredibly gorgeous here....I have always had a deep connection and affinity towards the intense, powerful, mystical 'mana' (energy) of the islands, and their astonishingly transcendent beauty. The mysterious jungles are as a green healing balm, and the entire area of East Maui is a mystical and transformative vortex...I get away as often as I  can, and try tolinger longer to partake of its magnificent, magical beauty--from the golden lighting at  Magic Hour cast over my beautiful gardens to the most awe-inspiring, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, to an inky black sky filled with an abundant  bowlful of stars...It is a numinous, luminous, powerful  place, and I adopted it three decades ago as my personal sacred spot. Looking forward to some much-needed solo cocooning....I return to my sanctuary for regeneration and decompression... Somewhere lies the monastic hermit within me...I enjoy being in the world, yet I also need the sacred sanctum of my own retreat away from it all.

My current home on six and a half flawlessly manicured acres of gardens, which I had largely augmented and designed in the course of a dozen years. I've added over seventy assorted trees since acquiring this particular property a dozen years ago.  Of my three homes, which represent Body, Mind and Spirit, my Hawaiian properties (Spirit) are my favorite, although The Cedars( Body)  is a spectacular one-of-a-kind work of art, and my modernistic home in Malibu with a stunning, extensive collection of Modern Art represents the Mental sphere.

I have three properties here, including a magnificent 35 acre oceanfront parcel, Poponui which was formerly owned by a member of the Mellon family, Cordelia Mellon, upon which I will soon be manifesting my Shangri-La...I'm  starting the vision for a compound that will be inspired by the ancient Khymer style of Burma and Ankgor Wat--some of the most magnificent ruins and monuments on this planet! I  will be creating a series of temple-palaces and pavillions-gazebos with intricate wood carving and stone work in the ancient Khymer-Burmese manner-- a fusion of Buddhist/ Hindu styles. I wish to create a veritable work of art, and the legacy of a more lasting creative imprint to leave behind. The land has deep magic; according to my dear friend Luana, a Hawaiian native well-versed in the mystical Hawaiian shamanistic knowledge of old, the  Ancestors of the Land have spoken and have offered their blessings for me to be its temporal steward. The energy of the land is profoundly magical--a vortex of powerful mana, to which I merely reassigned its ancient Hawaiian name, Poponui, and added O'Kalani (POPONUI O'KALANI)--"Big Sphere of the Heavens"--a most appropriate name for this deep, transcendentally beautiful, magnificent piece of earth!
